Flight Software Engineer (Rust)

Salary: $123,000–$160,000 per year plus equity

What you will do

• Create software architecture for real-time, fault-tolerant control of spacecraft with power levels above 20 kW.
• Develop Rust-based software applications for propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications systems.
• Design and implement state machines, microcontroller drivers, and external sensor integrations.
• Build tools and infrastructure that support rapid deployment, reliable development, and software testing.
• Analyze data and investigate anomalies to identify and resolve software defects.
• Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing, including software- and hardware-in-the-loop simulation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or at least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Professional development experience in C, C++, or Rust.
• Access to controlled technical information requires U.S. person status under ITAR or eligibility for a federally issued export control license.

Nice to have

• Spacecraft flight software, hard real-time embedded systems, bare-metal, or RTOS experience.
• Linux systems programming, driver development, and no_std Rust experience.
• Continuous integration and continuous delivery experience.
• Fault-tolerant software design, state machines, software verification, and performance analysis experience.
• Experience creating hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop test systems.
