TL;DR
Flight Software Engineer (Spacecraft) (Rust/C/C++): Building and verifying mission-critical flight software for high-power spacecraft with an accent on real-time control, fault tolerance, and embedded systems. Focus on designing spacecraft software architecture, controlling propulsion and attitude systems, and validating robust performance through software- and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
Location: Seattle, Washington, United States; onsite role. Access to ITAR-controlled information requires the hire to be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for a federally issued export control license.
Salary: $123,000–$160,000 per year plus company equity.

is a Series C aerospace startup developing and mass-producing high-power satellite platforms for commercial and U.S. government missions from low Earth orbit to deep space.
What you will do
- Design real-time, fault-tolerant software architecture for spacecraft with power levels above 20 kW.
- Develop applications controlling propulsion, guidance and attitude control, thermal, power, and communications subsystems.
- Implement state machines, microcontroller peripheral drivers, and external sensor drivers.
- Build tools and infrastructure for reliable software development, deployment, and testing.
- Analyze data and investigate anomalies to identify and resolve software defects.
- Support spacecraft subsystem integration and testing, including simulator-based verification.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, or another STEM discipline, or at least 3 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Professional development experience with C, C++, or Rust.
- Ability to work onsite in Seattle, Washington.
- U.S. person status or eligibility for a federally issued export control license is required for access to ITAR-controlled information.
Nice to have
- Spacecraft flight software, hard real-time embedded systems, bare-metal, or RTOS experience.
- Linux systems programming, driver development, and production Rust experience, including no_std systems.
- Continuous integration and continuous delivery experience.
- Experience with fault-tolerant design, state machines, software verification, and performance debugging.
- Experience creating hardware-in-the-loop and hardware-out-of-the-loop test systems.
