Senior Backend Software Engineer (IoT)

Location: Torrance, California, with remote, hybrid, or onsite work options

Salary: $190,000 annually, plus equity grants and semi-annual impact-based bonuses.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain backend systems for boat infotainment systems and mobile applications.
• Build and optimize data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and visualizing boat telemetry.
• Develop internal tools that improve manufacturing processes.
• Manage cloud resources and infrastructure using DevOps best practices.
• Identify software opportunities that accelerate product development and company growth.

Requirements

• 5+ years of industry experience with expertise in at least one backend programming language, such as TypeScript, Python, Java, Go, or Rust.
• Experience overseeing technical projects, communicating with stakeholders, prioritizing high-ROI features, and driving technical vision.
• Proficiency with at least one cloud platform, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Deep understanding of API design and microservices hirify.globalhitecture.
• Demonstrated ability to optimize backend systems for performance, cost, and scalability.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and commitment to maintainable, high-quality software.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, BigQuery, Apache Spark, Kafka, Terraform, real-time data processing, or IoT systems.
• Familiarity with manufacturing execution systems and manufacturing tools.
• Experience with machine learning and predictive analytics.
• Enthusiasm for boating and the water.
