Software Engineer - Onboard Platform (Embedded Linux)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Palo Alto, California; or Detroit, Michigan. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. Visa sponsorship is available.

Salary: $150,320–$225,480 annual base salary in California, plus eligibility for annual bonuses, equity compensation, and company benefits.

What you will do

• Produce, test, and maintain board support packages for multiple hardware platforms.
• Develop custom bootchains and maintain the embedded Linux operating system for ADAS platforms.
• Implement secure boot and recovery boot workflows.
• Manage CVEs throughout the platform lifecycle and configure IPC between real-time and application domains.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, systems, safety, robotics, and machine-learning engineers to deliver production automotive technology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, or a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience; a master’s degree or PhD is also accepted.
• Experience with Yocto/OpenEmbedded, Buildroot, or comparable Linux packaging technologies.
• Experience developing Linux device drivers for Ethernet, GPU, PCIe, UFS, eMMC, OSPI, or similar devices.
• Bootloader experience with technologies such as U-Boot or UEFI.
• Experience with Secure Boot, dm-verity, fscrypt, and other production security technologies.
• Strong C++ experience developing embedded applications and systems, plus technical leadership in automotive or related production environments.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of system-level or embedded software development experience.
• Experience with OP-TEE Trusted Applications, Arm Trusted Firmware, and heterogeneous or multiprocessor SoC platforms.
• Experience with GoogleTest, Python, Bazel, Docker, and Linux-based developer tools and infrastructure.
