Backend Software Engineer

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 annual base salary, plus a target annual bonus of 10% and long-term incentive opportunities.

What you will do

• Design and build backend features for customer experiences and third-party device integrations.
• Enable energy-saving automation across HVAC and residential energy systems.
• Own critical product experience flows from a technical perspective.
• Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and product management.
• Implement API monitoring and proactively track service performance.
• Participate in standups, team updates, peer reviews, and the broader development process.

Requirements

• 4+ years of industry experience building backend software services.
• Strong software engineering background and proficiency in Python, Java, PHP, or Ruby.
• Experience building scalable, high-performance APIs with REST frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with SQL and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Redshift, or MongoDB.
• Computer science degree or demonstrated professional software industry experience.
• Authorization to work in the United States without current or future company-sponsored immigration.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed data processing, cloud functions, pub/sub systems, or Prefect.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and cloud automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, or AWS CDK.
• Experience in the electric power industry or working with external partners.
