TL;DR
Mechanical Designer (SolidWorks): Developing 3D parametric models, 2D drawings, and engineering documentation for power generation and oilfield equipment with an accent on manufacturability, assembly, and design accuracy. Focus on maintaining released designs, managing BOMs and engineering changes, and solving complex fabrication and production requirements across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Location: Waller, Texas, United States; office-based with time spent in manufacturing, testing, and fabrication areas

What you will do

  • Develop 3D parametric models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks from customer requirements, concepts, and sketches.
  • Review and maintain engineering drawings, models, technical documentation, and PDM records through the design lifecycle.
  • Create and maintain top-level and assembly BOMs in Oracle ERP.
  • Process engineering changes and update designs to meet production requirements.
  • Support fabrication, assembly, testing, and manufacturing activities by clarifying design questions and resolving feasibility issues.
  • Provide design estimates, participate in technical and sales meetings, and communicate timeline risks.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience as a Mechanical Designer using SolidWorks 3D parametric modeling software.
  • Strong understanding of fabricated and machined components, hydraulic and electrical schematics, and general assembly drawings.
  • Knowledge of Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, and mechanical drawing tolerances.
  • Ability to verify engineering documents against performance and manufacturing requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing oilfield equipment, power generation equipment, or other mechanical systems.
  • Experience with GD&T.
