Senior Data Scientist (Consultant) (RAG/AI)

Location: Detroit, Michigan; hybrid/onsite attendance required Tuesday through Thursday

What you will do

• Build, deploy, monitor, and support production-grade RAG solutions across the full AI lifecycle.
• Develop supervised and unsupervised machine learning models for classification, ranking, clustering, anomaly detection, and predictive modeling.
• Design explainable and auditable AI systems with human review, escalation, override, and feedback mechanisms.
• Build enterprise copilots, assistants, and document-grounded decision-support systems using embeddings, semantic search, re-ranking, and vector databases.
• Develop maintainable Python services, APIs, tests, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized deployments.
• Design resilient ingestion and integration pipelines for documents, metadata, attachments, and changing source-system records.

Requirements

• Senior-level experience successfully building and deploying at least one production-grade RAG solution.
• Strong expertise in classical machine learning, statistics, model evaluation, and explainability techniques such as SHAP and LIME.
• Advanced Python skills with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, and PyTorch or a similar deep learning framework.
• Experience with Git, code reviews, unit and integration testing, CI/CD, API development, and Docker or Podman.
• Strong SQL and ETL/ELT skills, including REST APIs, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, data lakes, data lineage, and data quality controls.
• Ability to work in Detroit in a hybrid/onsite arrangement Tuesday through Thursday.

• Experience with open-source or locally hosted large language models.
• Experience with agentic development.
• Experience working across local and cloud environments.
