Junior Embedded Software Test Engineer

Location: Hybrid in Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Candidates must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer. Employment visa sponsorship and export-license sponsorship are not available.

What you will do

• Design test strategies, plans, and cases for new embedded features and products.
• Develop, execute, and maintain validation tests during pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.
• Automate testing within continuous integration environments.
• Investigate, reproduce, triage, and debug hardware and software issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams during design reviews and technical issue triage.
• Report test results, quality metrics, and defects to drive resolution and product quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering with relevant experience, or a relevant master’s degree.
• Experience with embedded systems, RTOS, and MCU- or DSP-based systems.
• Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
• Understanding of software testing methodologies and test automation principles.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and digital multimeters.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills, plus familiarity with Git or SVN.

Nice to have

• Embedded testing on development boards and prototype hardware.
• Test automation framework development and scripting.
• Bare-metal development, Linux, Bash, Jira, Jenkins, and Agile/Scrum.
• Hardware/software integration and system-level debugging.
• Embedded protocols including I2C, SPI, UART, and I2S.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools with sound technical judgment.
