International Affiliate - Japan (Mental Health Counseling)

Location: Miho, Shizuoka, Japan; in-person office space required in Aizuwakamatsu, Osaka, or Miho. Hybrid role combining telehealth and in-person counseling.

What you will do

• Manage an independent clinical caseload on a flexible contractual basis.
• Provide short-term, goal-oriented counseling, typically 1–8 sessions per case, to employees and dependents.
• Support clients experiencing stress, burnout, grief, relationship challenges, and mild-to-moderate anxiety or depression.
• Use evidence-based modalities including CBT, SFBT, and ACT in an EAP context.
• Manage scheduling and case notes through Lyra’s secure digital platform.
• Follow global data privacy and administrative compliance requirements.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or Clinical Social Work.
• At least 3 years of post-qualification clinical experience.
• Registration with the local governing body as a psychologist, counsellor, or clinical social worker.
• Experience in short-term therapy or employee assistance programs.
• Ability to deliver brief, structured interventions.
• Own secure office space for in-person sessions in Aizuwakamatsu, Osaka, or Miho, plus confidential space and high-speed internet for telehealth.
