TL;DR
Low Carbon Solutions Process Engineer (Carbon Capture): Developing and executing complex process engineering solutions for carbon capture and gas processing systems with an accent on process simulation, molecular sieve technologies, and system-level performance. Focus on designing process flowsheets, evaluating technoeconomic performance, coordinating FEED through commissioning, and supporting HAZOPs, startup, and customer-facing technical discussions.

Location: Houston, Texas, United States; 5 days onsite. Travel may exceed 20% depending on business demand.

Salary: $128,470–$192,710 per year.

What you will do

  • Provide technical leadership to process, mechanical, controls, and project engineering teams while mentoring junior process engineers.
  • Develop Process Flow Diagrams, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, heat and material balances, process simulations, and basis of design documents.
  • Run Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, and related Aspen Suite simulations and perform technoeconomic evaluations of process solutions.
  • Support projects from feasibility studies through FEED, detailed design, commissioning, startup, and performance testing.
  • Coordinate engineering deliverables, participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and 3-D model reviews, and review vendor packages.
  • Present technical recommendations and provide engineering support to customers, EPC companies, technology providers, and equipment vendors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of oil and gas experience with increasing responsibility.
  • In-depth knowledge of molecular sieve technologies, including TSA, PSA, and VPSA, plus experience with amine absorption, membranes, or distillation.
  • Expertise in heat transfer, phase separation, contactor and separator design, process flowsheets, and computational fluid dynamics.
  • System-level understanding of engines or gas turbines used in compression and power generation, including emissions and aftertreatment options.
  • Must work onsite in Houston five days per week; strong analytical, communication, prioritization, and technical leadership skills are required.
