Controller (Construction Finance)

Location: Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma area, Canada

Salary: CAD 115,000–125,000 per year

S. & T. Group is a multi-trade construction company serving Sault Ste. Marie and the Algoma area for more than 40 years across electrical, mechanical, civil, HVAC, technology, and controls services.

What you will do

• Lead and supervise accounting staff across the company and affiliated entities.
• Oversee accounts receivable progress billings, aging reports, collections, vendor payments, subcontractor payments, and lien waivers.
• Monitor cash balances and supervise weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.
• Prepare and review monthly financial statements and develop and manage budgets with ownership.
• Manage business and health insurance procurement and maintain the insurance and risk protection program.
• Partner with the VP of Finance and company leadership on growth, organizational development, and financial operations.

Requirements

• Experience with financial systems and hands-on accounting operations.
• In-depth understanding of Canadian tax regulations and construction financial processes.
• Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, time-management, conflict-management, and crisis-management skills.
• Ability to support and guide the accounting team while ensuring accurate and timely operations.
• CPA designation or equivalent and a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field are assets.
• Familiarity with Jonas Software is an asset.
