TL;DR
Social and Behavior Change Officer (Humanitarian) (Social and Behavior Change): Designing and implementing evidence-based social and behavior change strategies for emergency preparedness and humanitarian response with an accent on behavioral research, community engagement, and cross-sector coordination. Focus on generating program evidence, measuring impact, building partnerships, and strengthening the capacity of UNICEF staff and partners.
Location: Maputo, Mozambique; national officer position requiring candidates to meet local visa and work authorization requirements.

What you will do
- Generate and use research, data, and evidence to design, measure, and monitor social and behavior change programs in emergency contexts.
- Design and implement inclusive SBC activities supported by behavioral evidence and community participation.
- Advocate for SBC, mobilize resources, and coordinate with stakeholders across sectors and teams.
- Build and maintain partnerships with government, humanitarian, development, and community actors.
- Support capacity building, knowledge transfer, continuous learning, and the scaling of effective SBC approaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in social services, development studies, behavioral science, communications, sociology, anthropology, psychology, social sciences, or a related field.
- At least two years of relevant experience in social and behavior change, community engagement, humanitarian response, behavioral research, monitoring and evaluation, program planning, partnerships, or capacity building.
- Experience in social research, impact monitoring, partnership development, strategic advocacy, knowledge transfer, and behavior change.
- Fluency in English and Portuguese is required.
- Applicants must meet Mozambique’s visa and work authorization requirements; will not facilitate visas or work authorization for National Officer positions.
Nice to have
- Knowledge of Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, or a local language.
- Experience with a United Nations system agency or organization.
- Country-level experience in development, fragile, or humanitarian contexts.
