Communication Officer (Humanitarian Communications)

Location: Based in Juba, South Sudan, with travel and work in remote areas

What you will do

• Develop and implement communications strategies to increase visibility and awareness of hirify.global’s humanitarian programming in South Sudan.
• Gather success stories, human-interest features, interviews, and news angles for websites, social media, donor reporting, and media relations.
• Draft press releases, statements, fact sheets, briefing notes, articles, and other communication materials.
• Build relationships with print, television, radio, web, and other media outlets and respond to media inquiries.
• Coordinate media interviews, site visits, photography, and video coverage with country teams and headquarters.
• Advise staff on branding, messaging, visibility, media engagement, and safeguarding standards while maintaining communication archives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, liberal studies, public relations, or a related field.
• At least three years of professional experience in communications, print or broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
• Experience or familiarity with communications in emergency situations and strong writing and media-production skills.
• Strong knowledge of social media tools, computer literacy, interpersonal communication, networking, and audience-focused messaging.
• Commitment to humanitarian principles, flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to work under stressful conditions.
• Open only to qualified South Sudanese nationals; ability to travel, work, and stay in remote areas with minimal facilities is required.

• Experience working in a humanitarian context.
• Arabic language skills.
