Senior Legal Counsel (Digital Assets and Payments)

Location: United Kingdom — London, Cardiff, or UK remote. The role is based in the London office, with non-London arrangements discussed case by case. Relocation to the UK is supported.

Salary: Circa £110,000 per year, plus performance-linked incentive awards and benefits.

What you will do

• Advise payments and product teams on digital assets, emerging payment technologies, and applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Identify legal issues proactively, assess risks, and recommend commercially effective solutions for complex business initiatives.
• Partner with product managers, designers, engineers, risk, financial crime, compliance, fraud, and operations stakeholders.
• Monitor evolving UK and EU legal and regulatory frameworks and help apply local requirements to products.
• Develop scalable legal workflows, knowledge-sharing programs, and technology solutions to improve efficiency.
• Manage relationships with external suppliers and law firms while optimizing legal spend and service quality.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of relevant post-qualification legal experience.
• Recent experience advising on digital assets, emerging financial technologies, and evolving regulatory regimes.
• Strong knowledge of financial services law and the UK regulatory framework for digital assets and emerging payments.
• Ability to assess legal and commercial risks and recommend balanced, practical solutions.
• Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to work independently with senior stakeholders.
