Senior Counsel (Crypto Regulatory)

Location: Fully remote, based in the UK or EU.

What you will do

• Advise on cryptoasset, e-money, and payment-services regulatory requirements, including account-access and open-banking obligations.
• Support EU and UK licensing applications, registrations, notifications, and coordination with outside counsel.
• Advise on regulatory aspects of corporate transactions and structural changes affecting EU and UK entities.
• Manage day-to-day regulatory relationships, including information requests and supervisory correspondence.
• Translate MiCA, the UK Cryptoasset Regime, AML/CTF, DORA, outsourcing, and payments regulations into clear business guidance.
• Provide decision-ready recommendations using plain-English communication and commercially accountable risk analysis.

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer admitted in England and Wales, Ireland, or an EU Member State.
• 10+ years of post-qualification experience in financial-services regulatory law, gained in-house or in private practice.
• Independent experience owning business-as-usual regulatory workstreams and engaging with the CBI, FCA, or an equivalent EU authority.
• Substantive experience with MiCA or the UK Cryptoasset Regime, plus EU or UK e-money and payment-services regulation.
• Experience with AML/CTF, outsourcing arrangements, and operational-resilience compliance.
• Strong analytical, drafting, organisational, and plain-English communication skills, with the autonomy to manage a broad workload.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with MiFID II, investment services, derivatives, equities, and tokenised financial instruments.
• Experience with change-of-control notifications and other regulatory aspects of corporate transactions.
• Authentic interest in crypto and digital assets, including familiarity with relevant products.
