Specialist, Software Engineer (Embedded Real-Time Systems)

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States; onsite role

Salary: $97,000–$180,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop embedded, real-time control software for advanced tactical radio and fielded communication systems.
• Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, documentation, and automated testing.
• Design and evaluate hardware/software interfaces, system requirements, and overall system performance.
• Support software sustainment, security findings remediation, system improvements, and defect resolution.
• Develop test procedures, analyze results with modeling and test tools, and participate in peer reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to maintain system reliability, performance, and compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of related experience, a graduate degree with at least 2 years of related experience, or 8 years of related experience without a degree.
• Professional experience with Python, Java, C, or C++.
• Experience programming in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting.
• Experience with unit and integration testing, software design, code reviews, and structured debugging.
• Security clearance eligibility may require U.S. citizenship; classified-access requirements apply where relevant.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or TS-SCI clearance, or the ability to obtain one.
• Experience developing CI/CD pipelines, deploying with Docker, or working with FPGA systems.
• Experience with TypeScript, hardware-interfacing software, and test automation.
