Zone Manufacturing Engineer – General Assembly (Vehicle Assembly)

Location: Hybrid role based in Warren, Michigan, with at least three days per week at the designated location. Frequent travel of 50% or more, including weekend, holiday, and off-shift support during launches. Relocation benefits may be available. What you will do

• Own assigned General Assembly zones across new programs, model changes, current production, installation, launch, and continuous improvement.
• Define, procure, install, and validate tooling, conveyors, material-handling systems, automation, workstations, and related facilities requirements.
• Develop manufacturing processes, operation sequences, material-flow concepts, and part-presentation strategies.
• Lead tooling and technology projects, supplier coordination, design reviews, build validation, and launch issue resolution.
• Coordinate with Process, Materials, Product Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Operations, Safety, and external partners.
• Maintain engineering documentation, process-change records, equipment requirements, maintenance training plans, and tooling investment reviews.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of manufacturing experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent relevant manufacturing experience.
• Ability to solve complex problems independently and manage multiple projects with high autonomy and accountability.
• Strong project management, analytical, communication, stakeholder-alignment, and collaboration skills.
• Flexibility to work changing hours, weekends, holidays, and off-shifts according to plant and launch schedules.
• Ability and willingness to travel frequently, at least 50% or more, during product program launches.

Nice to have

• 1–2 years of automotive industry experience.
• Knowledge of company safety and design standards.
• Experience with General Assembly tooling, conveyors, automation, PFMEA, digital build tools, and manufacturing engineering systems.
