TL;DR

Cost Engineer (Nuclear) (Cost Control/Project Controls): Managing budgets, forecasts, commitments, and cost reporting for complex, high-value nuclear and energy projects with an accent on cost accuracy, variance analysis, and change control. Focus on integrating cost data with project schedules, improving cost systems, and supporting performance decisions across multidisciplinary work packages.

Location: Bridgwater, Somerset, United Kingdom; onsite 3–4 days per week.

What you will do

  • Maintain project budgets, forecasts, commitments, accruals, and actual cost records.
  • Track variances, validate cost data, and support change control and cost-impact assessments.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, dashboards, KPI analysis, and sponsor reporting.
  • Collaborate with Project Controls Managers, planners, commercial teams, and Work Package Managers on Monthly Project Reviews.
  • Enhance cost systems, tools, and processes while maintaining alignment between cost data and project schedules.

Requirements

  • 4–10 years of experience in cost engineering, project controls, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and change management for large, complex projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power Query, and data analysis tools.
  • Experience with ERP or project controls software such as SAP, EcoSys, or Primavera.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent military experience.
  • Ability to work onsite in Bridgwater 3–4 days per week and meet BPSS clearance requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with NEC contracts, particularly Option C, and related reporting.
  • Knowledge of NEC or FIDIC commercial processes.
  • Formal training in cost control, estimating, or forecasting.
  • Progress toward RICS, APM, CICES, PMI, or similar professional accreditation.
