What you will do

• Set technical direction for backend development and build production-grade services using Java, Scala, and/or Rust.
• Architect scalable, secure, and reliable web applications and distributed cloud systems.
• Develop complex customer-facing product features for Pay and Audit applications while balancing technical debt and sustainability.
• Apply ML techniques to large healthcare datasets and simplify labor-intensive workflows through strong user experiences.
• Coach developers, establish engineering standards, and serve as the backend voice in cross-functional planning.
• Introduce agentic engineering practices, direct AI coding agents, and review their output for quality.

Requirements

• 10+ years of backend programming experience, with additional full-stack experience highly valued.
• Meaningful production experience with Java or Scala; strong Rust experience is highly desired.
• Experience designing, building, and operating high-throughput, highly available distributed systems on cloud services.
• Experience shipping customer-facing web application products and writing clear technical design documents.
• Strong systems thinking, product orientation, problem-solving ability, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with agentic engineering tools and workflows in production, plus a BS or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Technical leadership in Rust idioms, safety, and performance for greenfield projects.
• Additional full-stack development experience.
