Construction Manager (Solar/BESS)

Location: US, Texas City, TX; generally onsite 5 days a week with travel required. Work may involve various climates and physically rigorous site inspections.

What you will do

• Act as the onsite owner’s representative for utility-scale solar and Battery Energy Storage System projects delivered by third-party EPC contractors.
• Manage construction against EPC contracts and permit requirements, including schedule, budget, scope, deliverables, milestones, and remediation plans.
• Coordinate safety, environmental impact management, daily safety walks, inspections, QA/QC verification, and correction of deficiencies.
• Communicate with landowners, the DEQ, AHJ, EPC contractors, internal engineering, project management, and independent engineers regarding project impacts and progress.
• Manage contracts, change orders, invoices, deliverables, documentation, punch lists, closeout activities, and project data-room submissions.
• Lead project execution planning, kickoff meetings, progress meetings, and continuous-improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of onsite utility-scale solar, battery storage, and/or substation construction management experience; large-scale power, oil and gas, or chemical construction project experience is also considered.
• Advanced knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
• Expert knowledge of building products, construction details, relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• Technical knowledge of utility-scale solar and BESS construction, including QA/QC, punch-list creation and verification, and commodity tracking in varied environmental conditions.
• Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder partnership, problem-solving, initiative, proactive leadership, and follow-through.
• Ability to lead and complete physically rigorous site inspections before and during construction and work in various climates.
• Extensive knowledge and daily use of Procore; proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to changing software and technology needs; ability to operate Google Earth and ArcGIS software.
• Willingness to travel and generally work onsite 5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• FAA Part 107 license; training and certification will be reimbursed.
• Additional knowledge of Procore.
