Focus on extracting messaging from a legacy monolith, managing complex dependencies, improving system reliability, and developing engineers across multiple disciplines.

Location: Hybrid work in Vilnius or Kaunas, Lithuania. Two office days per week are recommended but not enforced; exact office days are agreed with the team. Workation is available for up to 90 days per year, including up to 21 days outside the EU.

Salary: €6,658–€9,008 gross per month

What you will do

• Lead a 10–12-person cross-functional Messaging team including backend, frontend, mobile, QA, and SDET engineers.
• Own delivery of the messaging roadmap, including sprint planning, cycle time, execution, and dependency management.
• Drive extraction of messaging domain logic from the legacy monolith into a modern service-oriented architecture.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics to turn product goals and experimentation objectives into incremental technical deliverables.
• Maintain scalable, performant, observable systems through SLIs, SLOs, incident management, and post-mortems.
• Develop engineers through mentorship, coaching, hiring, staffing, and career planning while fostering psychological safety.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing and scaling high-performing software engineering teams in agile environments.
• Experience delivering complex, multi-quarter, or cross-functional technical initiatives with significant dependencies and trade-offs.
• Solid engineering background; experience with Go is especially relevant.
• Comfort discussing Domain-Driven Design, REST and gRPC API structures, and microservices extraction with senior engineers.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical constraints and aligning stakeholder teams.
• People-first leadership approach with experience in mentorship, coaching, and impactful one-to-ones.
