Staff Software Engineer, Traffic Team (Go/Ruby)

What you will do

• Lead technical decisions and architecture for traffic management systems.
• Design and implement scalable, reliable, and performant solutions for rate limiting, routing, and related infrastructure challenges.
• Maintain and improve the hirify.global Load Balancer and other edge traffic systems.
• Write, review, and maintain production code primarily in Go and Ruby on Rails.
• Mentor engineers on technical and architectural decisions.
• Participate in on-call rotations and team meetings.

Requirements

• At least 9 years of software engineering experience, or equivalent experience through a qualifying degree and professional background.
• At least 4 years building and supporting large, high-traffic applications in platform or infrastructure domains.
• At least 4 years supporting and building cloud-native workloads on Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
• At least 2 years maintaining a load balancer, including abuse protection mechanisms such as DDoS mitigation and load shedding.
• Production software development experience with languages including Go, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, or Python.
• Ability to work remotely from Germany and collaborate effectively through written communication with distributed colleagues.

Nice to have

• Experience with HAProxy or another open-source load balancer.
• At least 2 years of Golang experience.
• Experience building or maintaining planetary-scale engineering systems.
• Experience working with remote, distributed teams.
