What you will do
- Lead and develop a mixed team of test engineers and technicians, providing technical mentoring and performance management.
- Own the NPD test strategy, developing plans, qualification matrices, and procedures traced to MIL-STD, AOP, and STANAG specifications.
- Direct qualification, first article, and production acceptance testing for energetic components, covering environmental, safety, and ballistic tests.
- Ensure all operations comply with DoD explosives safety standards, OSHA process safety management, and security requirements.
- Partner with Design, Quality, and Manufacturing to translate test results into design dispositions and root-cause corrective actions (RCCA/8D).
- Manage test facility readiness, including calibration, metrology controls, capital planning, and equipment upgrades.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, or Chemical Engineering.
- 8+ years of test engineering experience in energetics, ordnance, propulsion, aerospace, or defense, including 3+ years in leadership.
- Experience executing qualification test programs against military specifications (e.g., MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-331).
- Working knowledge of explosive safety practices and hazard classification in a test or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software, CAD, and ERP systems.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Nice to have
- Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline or an active DoD security clearance.
- Six Sigma Green Belt, Lean certification, or formal RCCA/8D training.
- Certification or knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation and ANSI/NCSL Z540.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled engineering documentation and automated test systems.
