What you will do
- Manage internal and external calibration of electrical, mechanical, optical, RF, and precision test equipment using NIST-traceable standards.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of metrology technicians, quality engineers, and operations personnel.
- Define the long-term calibration strategy and assess opportunities to bring calibration capabilities in-house.
- Ensure vendors comply with ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, AS9100, and NASA requirements.
- Provide technical guidance on metrology, calibration, measurement integrity, and uncertainty analysis.
- Review calibration certificates and maintain equipment tracking systems and calibration databases such as Indysoft.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in metrology and calibration, including 1–2+ years in program or project management.
- Experience preferably gained in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing.
- Deep knowledge of calibration methods for electrical, mechanical, optical, RF/microwave, and dimensional measurement equipment.
- Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, AS9100, NIST traceability, and measurement uncertainty principles.
- Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure and temperature gauges, dimensional tools, and calibration databases.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical ability, and attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, metrology, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience with 7+ years in metrology and calibration.
- Experience establishing and scaling calibration programs from the ground up.
- Blueprint and schematic interpretation experience.
- ASQ Certified Calibration Technician certification or equivalent.
- Knowledge of PLM, ERP, MES, and data analysis tools.
