Software Engineer II (Autonomy Data)

What you will do

• Design and organize the data lake, including schema definitions, partitioning strategy, and metadata indexing.
• Build and maintain end-to-end pipelines to ingest high-bandwidth sensor logs into cloud storage with high reliability.
• Implement data validation and integrity checks to detect corrupted information or missing sensors.
• Develop tooling to query raw logs and automate cost-effective pseudo-labeling workflows.
• Deploy and maintain data visualization tools to support log review, annotation QA, and autonomy debugging.
• Collaborate with perception and planning engineers to define data contracts and logging schemas.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CE, or related field with 4+ years of data engineering experience (or Master’s with 2+ years).
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL for building production-quality data pipelines.
• Experience with AWS (S3, Glue Athena, Redshift) and IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Solid understanding of data partitioning strategies and columnar storage formats like Parquet or Orc.
• Experience building pipelines that process time-series and binary data.
• Must be a U.S. citizen as the role requires access to restricted information under U.S. law.

Nice to have

• Experience with autonomous vehicles, robotics, or other sensor-driven autonomous systems.
• Deep experience with Foxglove or Rerun for building custom extensions or log review workflows.
• Familiarity with MCAP CLI/Python library and converting MCAP data to columnar formats.
• Experience with ML data curation, including diversity sampling and dataset versioning.
