Lead Software Engineer (Platform Engineering)

Location: Based in Boston, Massachusetts. Relocation and work authorization support provided.

What you will do

• Set the technical vision and long-term roadmap for core platform services.
• Design and develop foundational platform primitives, including infrastructure, databases, and queuing systems.
• Lead cross-team initiatives to improve availability, scalability, latency, and cost-efficiency.
• Identify systemic gaps and architectural bottlenecks and lead the delivery of solutions.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers to raise the bar for technical quality and engineering craft.
• Partner with security and product engineering leaders to advance the platform using Python, Go, and AWS.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Deep, hands-on experience developing production software in Python and/or Go.
• Extensive experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform) and containerized platforms (Kubernetes).
• Fundamental understanding of Linux and all layers of the networking stack.
• Proven track record of technical leadership, mentoring, and influencing technical direction.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to Boston, MA.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with high-volume data processing and storage systems (OLTP and OLAP).
• Experience with ClickHouse, DynamoDB, MySQL, Kafka, Spark, Flink, Iceberg, or Airflow.
• Background in internal tooling or paved-path platform design.
