What you will do

• Set technical direction for Apollo’s most critical and ambiguous engineering problems across organizational boundaries.
• Make and own long-term architectural decisions shaping the product and platform.
• Define the technical strategy for rebuilding the product around AI and agents.
• Establish engineering standards, patterns, and decisions that raise the technical bar across the organization.
• Multiply the impact of senior engineers through design, technical review, mentorship, and decision-making.
• Partner with engineering and product leadership on the company’s technology direction.

Requirements

• Track record of setting technical direction across an entire engineering organization.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems and software architecture, including reliability, scalability, and cost trade-offs.
• Strong judgment in ambiguous, high-stakes technical decisions and the influence to align multiple teams.
• Experience multiplying the effectiveness of senior engineers through mentorship and technical leadership.
• Current fluency with AI-assisted development and a clear perspective on the future of AI in engineering.
• Experience with React, Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Python, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, and GCP.
