Data Scientist - Workflow Automation (AI)

Location: Hybrid role based at the NY office, with work from home and three office days scheduled by the employee and team.

Salary: $129,600–$178,200 annually, based on the preferred NY location.

What you will do

• Intake automation requests from stakeholders, define requirements, and align priorities across teams.
• Design, build, test, and maintain automations using platforms such as n8n.
• Develop custom logic, data transformations, and integrations with internal systems, databases, and third-party services.
• Write technical design documents that explain approaches, tradeoffs, and delivery expectations.
• Monitor production workflows, troubleshoot failures, and implement error handling and alerting.
• Document workflows so they can be maintained and extended by other technical contributors.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of relevant experience as an applied data scientist or in a similar technical, data-oriented role.
• Prior experience with LLMs and the ability to evaluate AI system output quality and identify improvements.
• Bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. in computer science, data science, or a related field.
• Experience in a production development environment using formal version control and Python or JavaScript.
• Experience parsing JSON, transforming payloads, connecting to databases, and integrating REST APIs.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex analyses to stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with workflow automation platforms such as n8n, Zapier, Make, or Airflow.
• Deeper understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, OAuth, and API-key authentication.
• Background in consulting, data analysis, solutions engineering, data engineering, or a similar hybrid technical/product role.
