Sr Software DevOps Engineer (AWS/Observability)

Location: Hybrid role based in Galway, County Galway, Ireland

Salary: €65,600–€98,400 per year, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

• Own the architecture, implementation, and lifecycle management of the observability platform across Elastic Cloud, Dynatrace, Prometheus, and AWS.
• Lead improvements to logging, monitoring, metrics collection, distributed tracing, and alerting for cloud-native applications.
• Define SLIs, SLOs, and observability standards in collaboration with engineering, security, and architecture teams.
• Integrate observability tooling into CI/CD pipelines and support proactive incident detection and response.
• Drive reliability improvements through on-call participation, post-incident reviews, cost optimization, and scalable platform design.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional observability initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 4 years of experience in SRE, observability, platform engineering, or a related field, or an advanced degree with at least 2 years of technical experience.
• Deep expertise with Elastic Cloud, including Kibana, Beats, Logstash, and index lifecycle policies.
• Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, Prometheus, exporters, custom dashboards, AWS services, and streaming frameworks such as Kafka.
• Strong experience with Docker, Kubernetes, microservices observability, Terraform, GitOps, Python or Bash scripting, and CI/CD integration.
• Leadership, mentoring, communication, documentation, data-retention, access-control, and multi-tenant observability experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenTelemetry or other open observability standards.
• Familiarity with observability cost-optimization strategies.
• Exposure to HIPAA or ISO 27001 compliance frameworks in observability contexts.
