Game Engine Developer (C++): Enhancing and optimizing the RuneTek cross-platform game engine with an accent on rendering technologies and core engine libraries. Focus on developing scalable, high-performance code for networking, audio, and threaded renderers using OpenGL and Vulkan.

Location: Hybrid (Cambridge, UK). Must have the permanent right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not provided.

What you will do

• Enhance and maintain engine technology and code libraries, including networking, audio, input, and threaded job systems.
• Research and develop production-ready game engine technology to keep the tech stack competitive.
• Write scalable, robust, and performant code following department standards and best practices.
• Deliver on projects of moderate scope and complexity with critical business impact.
• Optimize systems and processes, evaluating both in-house and third-party solutions.
• Develop a specialism in graphics, networking, audio, or animation with team mentorship.

Requirements

• Demonstrable game engine development experience in modern C++, GLSL, and Python.
• Proficiency in profiling CPU, GPU, and memory to implement performance fixes in live products.
• Experience with AAA threaded renderers powered by OpenGL and Vulkan.
• Ability to maintain C++ build systems; CMake experience is an advantage.
• Experience with test-driven development (TDD).
• Permanent right to work in the UK is required (no visa sponsorship available).
