Senior Data Scientist - Video (12-month contract)

Location: Sydney, Australia; hybrid work with regular collaboration on the Sydney campus

What you will do

• Design and analyze experiments to validate new video-product UX and support release decisions.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Product Designers, and Engineers to deliver measurable product improvements.
• Build and maintain dashboards tracking latency, error rates, feature health, user adoption, and retention.
• Use data to identify product opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
• Apply product funnels, event tracking, and experimentation insights to improve the video creation experience.

Requirements

• Proven experience using data to influence business decisions and drive growth.
• Strong knowledge of hypothesis-driven problem solving, SQL, numerical reasoning, metric design, forecasting, insight generation, and data storytelling.
• Experience with experimentation, analytic event design, data warehouses, and large datasets.
• Proficiency in R or Python.
• Experience with customer-facing web or mobile products, including product funnels and event tracking.
• Experience with video analytics or content production processes and evaluation in a social media company or media agency.

Nice to have

• Background in mathematics, statistics, or another STEM field.
• Experience or interest in large language models and generative AI tools.
