Forward Deployed Engineer (Migration) (SQL/TypeScript): Planning and executing customer data migrations onto a telecommunications operating system, from legacy-system discovery through validated production imports, with an accent on ETL methodology, data mapping, and cutover planning. Focus on exploring poorly documented source systems, reconciling complex data, managing rollback strategies, and resolving discrepancies after go-live.

Location: Remote within Canada; occasional travel to the US is required for customer engagements and go-lives.

What you will do

• Lead migration discovery sessions and assess legacy source systems, data models, OSS/BSS layers, scope, mappings, and cutover strategies.
• Extract data using SQL, APIs, manual exports, and backups, then transform it into the platform's standard format.
• Load, validate, reconcile, and import data while managing full, incremental, and delta migrations.
• Plan and execute production cutovers, including downtime planning, rollback, monitoring, and post-launch stabilization.
• Own customer migration engagements end-to-end and manage scope, timelines, trade-offs, and stakeholder expectations.
• Create reusable migration templates, playbooks, and mapping assets while contributing improvements to migration tooling.

Requirements

• 4–6+ years of experience across customer-facing implementation or solutioning and hands-on data or software engineering.
• Strong SQL and TypeScript/JavaScript with Node skills for querying, reshaping, and debugging unfamiliar data schemas.
• Strong understanding of ETL fundamentals, including staging, idempotent loads, full and incremental loads, validation, and reconciliation.
• Experience owning technical projects with external stakeholders and making technical and customer trade-offs.
• Experience with messy legacy systems, plus familiarity with OSS/BSS, telecom, or billing and CRM data models.
• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience; excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
