Backend Engineer (Ruby/Kotlin): Maintaining and evolving a mission-critical Ruby on Rails monolith and developing new features in Kotlin/Spring Boot with an accent on architectural complexity and system integration. Salary: 1.5Mβ1.9M HUF gross/month.

What you will do
- Maintain and evolve a large-scale Ruby on Rails monolith.
- Develop REST APIs using Kotlin and Spring Boot.
- Ensure seamless integration between legacy Ruby code and modern services.
- Solve complex architectural issues and fix critical bugs.
- Collaborate with a global team across multiple time zones.
- Utilize AI tools to accelerate development and system mapping.
Requirements
- Must be based in Hungary.
- Strong experience with Ruby on Rails and Java/Kotlin Spring Boot.
- Proficiency with PostgreSQL and cloud-based infrastructure (AWS).
- Analytical mindset for navigating large, complex codebases.
- Comfortable with occasional late afternoon/evening CET meetings to overlap with US time zones.
- Direct communication style and ability to engage in constructive technical debate.
Nice to have
- Experience with React and TypeScript.
- Familiarity with Apache Pulsar, AWS Neptune, or OpenSearch.
- Experience with DevOps practices including Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
