Data Engineer (AWS)

TL;DR

Data Engineer (AWS/SQL): Building and maintaining cloud-native data ingestion pipelines and analytics infrastructure on AWS with an accent on ETL processes, Redshift data modeling, and API-driven ingestion. Salary: $99,000 - $225,000 per year

What you will do

• Build and support ingestion pipelines that pull data from external APIs and land normalized JSON/CSV payloads in Amazon S3.
• Develop and maintain AWS Lambda functions and AWS Glue jobs, including Visual ETL workflows.
• Model and query data in Redshift using a layered structure (landing, staging, core, and mart).
• Implement SQL-based data quality checks for null values, duplicates, and schema change detection.
• Monitor and resolve pipeline failures using CloudWatch logs and job run histories.
• Design and maintain reporting dashboards in Amazon QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience with SQL, including joins, aggregations, views, and query optimization.
• 2+ years of experience in ETL development or data cleaning and parsing.
• 2+ years of experience with data visualization tools (QuickSight, Tableau, or Power BI).
• Experience with REST APIs and normalizing data into S3.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, Glue, and Redshift.
• Must be based in the United States.

Nice to have

• 1+ years of experience with cybersecurity.
• Proficiency in Python (specifically for Lambda) or PySpark for Glue ETL.
• Experience with ECS or Fargate for large-volume data loads.
• Familiarity with CI/CD practices, GitHub version control, and GitHub Actions.
• Experience with JavaScript and frontend frameworks like React, Vue, or Angular.
• AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or similar certification.
