Associate Director, Scientific Digital Lead (AI): Driving digital innovation across Advanced Synthesis by connecting science, data, AI, and technology to improve research and development outcomes with an accent on scientific use cases, scalable digital solutions, and cross-functional delivery. Focus on translating scientific needs into digital products, leading agile teams, and delivering AI- and data-driven capabilities from concept through deployment.
Location: Oss, Netherlands. This is an office-first role, with remote work available for 20% of the time, approximately one day per week. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates and their families.

What you will do
- Drive digital innovation across Advanced Synthesis by identifying opportunities for data, AI, and computational technologies.
- Partner with scientists and business stakeholders to translate scientific challenges into impactful digital solutions.
- Define digital use cases, success criteria, user stories, and high-level functional requirements.
- Lead cross-functional agile teams including subject matter experts, data scientists, data engineers, designers, and IT partners.
- Manage solution delivery from concept through deployment, adoption, value realization, and stakeholder alignment.
- Monitor scientific and digital trends, recommend future capabilities, and mentor colleagues to grow digital expertise.
Requirements
- Master’s or PhD degree in life sciences, engineering, computer science, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, CDMO, CRO, or related scientific environments.
- Experience applying digital, data science, computational, or AI-driven approaches to research and development.
- Ability to translate scientific needs into scalable digital products, capabilities, or solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with digital transformation, scientific workflow digitalization, analytics, AI/ML, or innovation strategy is advantageous.
