TL;DR

What you will do

  • Translate vehicle-level safety concepts, safety goals, and functional requirements into technical embedded requirements.
  • Define embedded system architecture and the hardware/software partition, including the hardware-software interface (HSI).
  • Maintain bidirectional traceability from safety goals to hardware and software requirements using tools like Polarion.
  • Operationalize automotive standards including functional safety, SOTIF, cybersecurity, and autonomous-product safety cases.
  • Collaborate with V&V teams to define verification and validation criteria based on requirements and architecture.
  • Support Development Interface Agreements (DIAs) with OEM partners and suppliers.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded systems with depth in both hardware and software.
  • Strong expertise in ISO 26262, specifically system-design (Part 4), hardware (Part 5), and software (Part 6) phases.
  • Familiarity with SOTIF (ISO 21448), automotive cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), UL 4600, and ASPICE.
  • Proficiency with requirements management and traceability tools (e.g., Polarion).
  • Ability to read schematics and reason about embedded C, C++, or Rust.

Nice to have

  • Experience maturing engineering standards (ASPICE, 21434, etc.) within an organization.
  • Proficiency in SysML or model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience in AV, ADAS, or other complex safety-critical domains.
  • Direct experience authoring or negotiating DIAs with OEMs.
