What you will do

• Design, deploy, and optimize various database technologies across multi-cloud and on-premises environments.
• Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to improve system performance.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures, including conducting failover testing.
• Monitor database performance, analyze metrics, and implement tuning strategies to eliminate redundant overhead.
• Collaborate with developers and architects to design efficient data models and schemas.
• Implement security best practices, access controls, and encryption standards across all database platforms.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States.
• 5+ years of professional database engineering experience.
• Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server (2016+), T-SQL development, and Always-On Availability Groups.
• Strong professional experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB (or other NoSQL databases).
• Hands-on experience managing databases on AWS RDS and Aurora.
• Proficiency in backup/restore strategies and disaster recovery planning.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Data Engineer).
• Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM).
• Familiarity with ETL tools, data pipelines, and CI/CD processes.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, Redgate, or Solarwinds.
