Principal Software Engineer (AI)

Principal Software Engineer (AI/Distributed Systems): Developing core platforms for intelligent networking and agentic AI systems with an accent on scalability, real-time data processing, and autonomous agents. Location: Hybrid (Seattle, WA / San Jose, CA). Must be based in the USA.

Salary: $220,000 – $250,000

What you will do

• Lead the development of core platforms and services for intelligent networking and agentic AI.
• Build scalable, secure, and reliable systems to process large volumes of real-time network and operational data.
• Develop AI experiences enabling autonomous agents to reason, remember, plan, and collaborate.
• Design high-performance distributed systems and cloud-native platforms for enterprise use cases.
• Mentor engineers and serve as a technical lead for highly complex and ambiguous technical problems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including architecture and production operations.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language: Python, Java, Go, or C++.
• 5+ years of experience architecting large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Experience with real-time microservices, stream processing, or AI/agentic systems.
• Work authorization: Unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas (including H-1B) at this time.

Nice to have

• Master's or PhD in CS, Machine Learning, or a related technical discipline.
• Experience building Generative AI systems, including tool use, planning, and orchestration.
• Proficiency with distributed data technologies such as Kafka, Spark, Flink, or PySpark.
• Experience developing network management, observability, telemetry, or control-plane systems.
