What you will do

• Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems for the recommendations pipeline and AI workflow execution engine.
• Own and improve infrastructure on AWS and Kubernetes, with a focus on reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Strengthen eventing, streaming, retries, backpressure, and recovery to make systems resilient to failure.
• Design service and API boundaries and optimize MongoDB data models and queries.
• Build reliable systems around non-deterministic, LLM-backed components and collaborate with product engineers, PMs, and designers.
• Share operational and on-call ownership and mentor engineers on backend and reliability practices.

Requirements

• Location: Remote-first in Argentina.
• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience.
• Business-level English fluency required for reading, writing, and speaking.
• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production, ideally in scalable, multi-tenant SaaS.
• Strong experience with distributed systems, concurrency, asynchronous and eventually consistent processing, queues or streaming, and failure-oriented design.
• Strong Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js skills, plus experience with databases, cloud infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability, testing, and documentation.

Nice to have

• Experience with workflow or orchestration engines such as n8n, Temporal, or Airflow.
• Experience building or operating LLM-backed or agentic systems in production.
• Experience making unreliable services highly reliable.
