IT Support & Infrastructure Engineer (Windows/VMware)

Location: Hybrid (Bristol, UK) — must be based in the UK and work from the Bristol office 3 days per week

What you will do

• Act as a senior technical escalation point for 2nd and 3rd line support tickets.
• Administer Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
• Manage and build virtual machines using VMware and Proxmox hypervisors.
• Troubleshoot networking issues involving VLANs, routing, Juniper switches, and Palo Alto firewalls.
• Drive vulnerability remediation and patching using KACE, Qualys, and Domo.
• Monitor system health via Zabbix and manage backup/recovery processes through Commvault.

Requirements

• Proven experience in a senior 2nd line, 3rd line, or infrastructure support role.
• Expertise in Windows 11 and Windows Server administration.
• Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, and core networking fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with VMware administration and VM management.
• Ability to take full ownership of complex technical issues and guide junior engineers.
• Ability to work from the Bristol office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux or macOS administration.
• Familiarity with Juniper switching, Palo Alto firewalls, or CrowdStrike.
• PowerShell scripting or general automation experience.
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks.
• Experience supporting developers in a large enterprise environment.
