What you will do

• Provide independent second-line supervision, critical review, and evidence-based opinions on data-related risks.
• Assess data risk governance, controls, frameworks, risk appetite, and alignment with regulatory expectations.
• Monitor risk indicators, incidents, assurance findings, and management information to identify emerging and systemic risks.
• Improve risk reporting, metrics, oversight approaches, and policy compliance assessment.
• Challenge risk management across AI, cloud, regulatory, data transformation, and other major technology programmes.
• Build relationships with senior stakeholders across the three lines of defence and influence effective risk decisions.

Requirements

• Significant experience in data risk, data governance, data management, or a related risk discipline within a complex organisation.
• Strong understanding of data lifecycle risks, governance frameworks, safeguards, controls, and risk management.
• Knowledge of modern data environments, including cloud systems, data architecture, cognitive computing, and advanced analytics.
• Experience conducting independent reviews, critical evaluations, assurance activities, and assessments of risk frameworks and operating models.
• Excellent analytical, communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.

Nice to have

• Experience leading thematic reviews, risk assessments, or assurance activities in a non-financial risk environment.
• Professional qualifications in risk, data management, data governance, privacy, or technology.
• Knowledge of BCBS 239, GDPR, UK data protection requirements, or AI governance.
• Experience supporting risk and control-by-design for AI, cloud, data transformation, or large-scale technology programmes.
