Product Development/Lab Technician (Python/PLC)

Product Development/Lab Technician (Python/PLC): Building and validating automated test stands and laboratory environments for new pool products with an accent on electronic testing, PLC and sensor data, and advanced test methodologies. Focus on designing testers from scratch, troubleshooting complex systems, improving laboratory efficiency, and leading technicians through demanding product development projects.

Location: Onsite in Apex, North Carolina, United States. Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

Salary: $33.00+/hour, equivalent to approximately $5,280+/month based on 160 hours.

What you will do

• Develop and document test procedures for new products and major product improvements.
• Source equipment and materials and build physical laboratory environments and automated testers.
• Represent the laboratory in technical discussions and lead testing for engineering projects.
• Develop advanced testing methodologies, improve efficiency, and reduce testing costs.
• Research and introduce new laboratory equipment while monitoring technology and regulatory changes.
• Lead and mentor technicians and communicate testing data through structured reports.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience building automated test stands from scratch, including design, assembly, and commissioning.
• Experience with Python programming or PLC programming.
• Expertise in electronic testing, troubleshooting, PLC and sensor data acquisition.
• High school diploma or equivalent; a two-year degree in engineering technology or programming is preferred.
• Project management, problem-solving, strategic decision-making, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and related tools; ability to occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.

Nice to have

• CAD or SolidWorks experience.
• Two-year technical or college degree in engineering technology or programming.
