Associate Director of Bioinformatics Innovation (AI)

Location: United States; remote or hybrid options are available, with onsite work required on hirify.global premises when applicable

What you will do

• Define and execute the bioinformatics innovation roadmap.
• Identify and evaluate emerging technologies in bioinformatics, multi-omics, AI, and digital health.
• Translate advanced computational research into prototypes and commercially viable products.
• Partner with R&D, Bioinformatics R&D, Software Engineering, and Business Development teams.
• Support product roadmap planning, technology transfer, external technology evaluation, partnerships, and licensing opportunities.
• Lead innovation initiatives and foster scientific excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Genetics, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 8 years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or genomics.
• At least 3 years of experience managing and leading a team, including direct people management.
• Experience with Python, R, C++, or Java and with production-grade bioinformatics pipelines and software platforms.
• Deep knowledge of genomics, NGS analysis, statistical genetics, and computational biology.
• Strong communication, presentation, innovation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Understanding of machine learning and AI applications in life sciences.
• Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Experience with large-scale genomic databases and real-world clinical data.
• Patents, publications, or successful product launches.
