Principal Analytics Engineer (Snowflake, dbt)

Principal Analytics Engineer (Snowflake, dbt): Building trusted data foundations and scalable data products to power business decision-making with an accent on migrating legacy DOMO reporting to a modern Snowflake and dbt platform. Location: Hybrid (Maple Plain, MN). Must be a U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or granted refugee/asylee status due to ITAR regulations.

Salary: $131,500 - $197,300 a year

What you will do

• Lead the design, ownership, and continuous improvement of enterprise analytics data models across multiple business domains.
• Drive the migration of legacy DOMO transformation logic to the modern Snowflake and dbt data platform.
• Partner with business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into scalable and well-documented data products.
• Collaborate with Data Engineering, AI, and Software Engineering teams to align data architecture and ingestion strategies.
• Establish and promote best practices for data modeling, documentation, testing, and analytics engineering.
• Mentor Analytics Engineers, fostering excellence in SQL, stakeholder management, and business analysis.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, BI, Data Modeling, or Data Warehousing.
• Expert-level SQL skills with the ability to optimize and document complex business logic.
• Significant experience partnering with business stakeholders to define metrics and operational workflows.
• Strong experience working in ambiguous environments and structuring complex data landscapes.
• Proficiency with Git-based development workflows and CI/CD practices.
• Must be a U.S. Person (Citizen, Green Card holder, or refugee/asylee status) to comply with ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Experience with dbt or equivalent modern SQL-based transformation frameworks.
• Prior experience with DOMO, including legacy reporting and ETL logic.
• Experience working with highly governed domains such as Finance or Human Resources.
• Expertise with BI platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Looker.
• Exposure to data cataloging, metadata management, and observability platforms.
