What you will do
- Run monthly supportive supervision visits to health facilities and Family Health Houses (FHHs) using standardized IRC checklists to assess clinical quality, counselling, eligibility screening, infection prevention, documentation, and commodity management.
- Coach and correct midwives and community health workers (CHWs), review clinical records, maintain competency/performance trackers, and submit reports with gaps, corrective actions, and follow-up recommendations.
- Deliver and cascade reproductive health and family planning trainings as an IRC Master Trainer, including competency assessments and return demonstrations for newly recruited staff.
- Assure counselling and community engagement quality by monitoring FHAG dialogues, Community Health Shura engagement, and CHW household outreach; review reports and registries to identify gaps and coordinate corrective actions.
- Supervise supply chain and health information management by verifying commodity availability and buffer stocks, checking stock records, and ensuring consistency between facility registers, CHW records, and HMIS submissions.
- Compile and analyze monthly/quarterly programme performance data, maintain programme documentation for monitoring/learning and donor compliance, and support recruitment/onboarding and workforce wellbeing in remote field settings.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Midwifery (BSc Midwifery) or Community Midwifery degree, or Diploma in Nursing/Community Health Nursing with strong reproductive health clinical experience, or Medical Doctor (MBBS) with reproductive health programme experience.
- Minimum 2–3 years of progressive clinical and programme experience in reproductive health, maternal health, or primary healthcare in Afghanistan.
- Experience delivering maternal and reproductive health services and working with community-level health platforms in Afghanistan (FHHs, CHWs, FHAGs, Community Health Shuras).
- Experience in clinical quality assurance, supportive supervision, or programme monitoring, including training/mentoring midwives or CHWs.
- Experience working in the assigned province (Nangarhar, Herat, or Kunduz) and familiarity with the local health system, PPHD, and community structures.
- English, Dari, and Pashto.
