TL;DR

Human Rights Officer (OHCHR Ukraine P3): Conducting human rights monitoring in Ukraine by researching violations, drafting analytical reports, and supporting advocacy and accountability efforts with an accent on evidence-based reporting, gender dimensions, and data-driven insights. Focus on collecting and analyzing information from multiple sources, maintaining safe handling of sensitive information, and building baseline data through interviews, consultations, and visualization.

What you will do

  • Research and collect information on human rights issues, emerging trends, and response/capacity gaps, including gender dimensions.
  • Draft reports and correspondence (briefing, interview notes, and analytical documents) related to human rights matters.
  • Participate in hearings and consultations and prepare summaries of results.
  • Maintain awareness of current human rights issues and relevant political and legal developments in the concerned country(ies).
  • Design and maintain databases to track project progress and produce insights using charts, graphs, tables, and data visualization.
  • Coordinate with government bodies, NGOs, UN agencies, and partners to create baseline data, support community mobilisation, and contribute to advocacy to prevent violations.

Requirements

  • Citizenship: Norwegian citizenship only
  • Advanced university degree (Master’s or equivalent) in law or a related field (or first-level degree plus 2 additional years of qualifying experience).
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively responsible experience in human rights, political affairs, international relations, law, or related area.
  • Working languages requirement: English is required.
  • Experience in human rights and/or International Humanitarian Law data analytics is desirable (at least 1 year).
  • Experience conducting face-to-face and/or remote interviews with victims and witnesses is desirable.
