TL;DR

Chef Manager (Hospitality): Overseeing the day-to-day operations of a remote camp kitchen with an accent on menu planning, food safety, and staff supervision. Focus on implementing HACCP methods, managing inventory, and delivering high-quality rotational menus for large numbers of guests.

Location: Based at a remote Horizon North camp in Lac De Gras, NWT, Canada. Regular shift: 14 days on and 7 days off (12-hour workdays).

Compensation: CAD 380 - 400 daily

What you will do

• Design, prepare, and serve high-quality rotational menus.
• Supervise kitchen staff productivity and ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality policies.
• Lead the training, development, and mentoring of employees.
• Ensure all food preparation follows FOODSAFE and HACCP methods.
• Conduct bi-weekly inventory and communicate equipment maintenance needs to management.
• Plan and prepare meals catering to various dietary restrictions, including allergies, vegan, and vegetarian needs.

Requirements

• Journeyperson or interprovincial Red Seal Certificate.
• SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification.
• At least 10 years of experience in the hospitality/food service industry.
• At least 10 years of experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, GFS, and Outlook.
• Must pass drug and alcohol testing and a fitness assessment as a condition of employment.
