What you will do

  • Oversee the daily operations of photographic facilities, darkrooms, and digital labs at BC Binning Studios.
  • Provide technical guidance and demonstrations to students and faculty on photography and lens-based media techniques.
  • Maintain and repair specialized equipment, including 35mm and large format cameras, printers, and scanners.
  • Collaborate with instructors to design and deliver technical processes for the visual art curriculum.
  • Develop and enforce safety standards and usage guides for photographic chemicals and equipment.
  • Manage procurement, budget tracking, and the supervision of student assistants.

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant discipline or technical program.
  • Minimum 4 years of related experience in photography.
  • Thorough understanding of darkroom printing, studio lighting, and large format cameras.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and macOS/Windows/Linux platforms.
  • Must be based in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
  • Commitment to enhancing awareness and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of studio art theory and art history.
  • Experience installing photographic artworks for exhibitions.
