What you will do

• Drive architectural decisions and technical strategy for core backend systems.
• Design and maintain scalable RESTful APIs and services using Python and Django.
• Mentor technical leaders and provide high-quality feedback through code reviews.
• Optimize database models and queries to ensure performance and data integrity.
• Investigate and resolve complex performance bottlenecks within the monolith.
• Champion operational excellence and high-performance engineering standards.

Requirements

• Must be based in Canada
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience in scalable SaaS environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python and major web frameworks like Django or FastAPI.
• Practical experience using AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot.
• Proven track record of leading large-scale technical projects and driving architecture.
• Deep understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and RESTful API design.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Background in high-growth SaaS product development.
