Staff Software Engineer

TL;DR

Staff Software Engineer (.NET/Java): Lead a team through design, planning, and implementation across the Software Development Lifecycle with an accent on software architecture, hands-on full-stack development, and quality/security standards. Focus on building and testing SaaS/on-prem systems, producing architecture documentation, and delivering reliable APIs with AWS and infrastructure-as-code.

Location: Remote (U.S.-based, U.S. Citizens Only)

Salary: $150K–$180K + bonus + benefits

What you will do

• Lead team operations and execution across standups, retrospectives, and engineering ceremonies.
• Drive software design and architecture, including diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
• Be hands-on across the full stack (frontend, backend, and database) while following architecture standards.
• Write and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, and functional automation such as Selenium/Playwright).
• Perform peer reviews and provide guidance/coaching to engineers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and customer success.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship required; must pass FBI fingerprint and background check in multiple states.
• 5+ years of software development experience as an individual contributor; 2+ years leading software development teams.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Expertise in .NET and/or Java (Spring Boot experience is a major plus).
• Experience with React, Angular, or other modern JavaScript frameworks; ability to write and document public & private APIs.
• Experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code; relational databases (e.g., MySQL/Postgres).

Nice to have

• Experience with alternative datastores (e.g., OpenSearch, Redshift).
• Experience with CJIS compliance.
• Background in public safety / emergency communications.
• Familiarity with AI-driven platforms and related security considerations.
• Strong understanding of VOIP/telephony and audio stream handling (SIP/SDP/SIPREC/RTP, codecs).
