What you will do

• Conduct safety inspections of bridges, overhead signs, dams, and tunnels.
• Collect measurements and document structural conditions using tablets, drones, and specialized access equipment.
• Prepare detailed written technical reports and electronic drawings based on field data.
• Perform structural analysis, load ratings, and repair/retrofit designs in an office setting.
• Mobilize to other offices or states as required to staff inspection teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural, or related Engineering discipline (ABET-accredited preferred).
• Must be physically able to perform bridge inspection tasks in the field, including various access types and conditions.
• Must be open to out-of-state travel or short-notice emergency work.
• Ability to work constructively in a team environment and maintain professional relationships.
• Willingness to attend FHWA Bridge Inspector's Reference Manual (BIRM) training.

Nice to have

• Engineer in Training (EIT) or Engineering Intern (EI) certification.
• Completion of NHI bridge inspection coursework.
• Prior experience in bridge inspection.
